Pink Lady Monster is a post-punk band based in Denver, CO - a true collaborative effort born from live improvisation and experimentation. At its core Pink Lady Monster is about exposing the resiliency of the human spirit and the inevitable absurdity of human nature. Taking great inspiration from the no-wave movement in the late 70s, Pink Lady Monster refuses to identify with any singular genre or stylistic approach and instead chooses to follow a shared impulse towards the unknown.
“Pink Lady Monster’s embrace and even celebration of the strange and unconventional might be perceived as baked into the music. But really it’s just being honest about how weird humans are in general and making songs that aren’t shackled by a need for symmetry and predictable melodies. The free jazz skronk of sax alongside spidery guitar jangle, dub-like post-punk funk bass and avant-garde poetry as vivid storytelling and left field accents in the percussion ensures there’s an element of chaos and genuine exploration in the music. Yet the group has an accessibility that invites you along for the ride to the wild side. Pink Lady Monster probably didn’t grow up listening to a ton of Carla Bley, Can and the entire 99 Records discography but if you’re into all of that you’ll get plenty of of the band’s deeply imaginative and playful oeuvre.”
